Joanne Woodward was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, but has lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for so many years, she now considers it her home. Her father was a Geophysicist from Kansas who worked in the Exploration Department of a major oil company. By the time she was 18 and a senior in high school, the oil company had moved their family 30 times, all around Canada and America!
That afforded her many opportunities to not only meet wonderful people everywhere but the ability to see beauty whether in cold Peace River, Alberta; dry, sandy towns in New Mexico; eastern Kentucky; majestic mountain ranges of Western Canada; small towns in Texas (8 of them, Big Lake was Great place really great kids sure wish we could have stayed there!) ; blustery North Dakota, swamplands of Louisiana, and yes, the list goes on and on!
She’s had just 5 art classes and began drawing and painting to fill hours after her son grew up and left home. Many paintings were given away or sold before she found graphic companies to make Giclee reproductions of her work. Grateful for the God given talent she continues to fine tune, her passion is creating expressions of animal faces with Pastel, Charcoal and Carbon, but she enjoys using a variety of mediums to paint other interesting subjects as well.
